Local News…
Somebody could probably learn a thing or two from Smokey the Bear. As a result of all of the strong winds in our area, a campfire left unattended ignited to start a forest fire. Thirty-two year old Andrew Frake was camping in a wooded are off of the Seneca Trail on Friday when he decided to extinguish the campfire and leave. Unfortunately the fire was apparently not fully extinguished and reignited. It then spread quickly via high winds to burn approximately 500 acres of the Pinelands in Burlington County. Firefighters brought the wildfire under control Sunday morning, and Frake was arrested later that day on arson charges.
National News…
Ever since the attempted car bombing in Times Square, all of New York City has been more alert to suspicious activity. Late Thursday night, an employee for the Con Edison utility company called 911 to report a four-door 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera with two gas cans in the back seat. Every building nearby was evacuated including the Con Edison building and an apartment complex while the NYPD bomb squad used a special bomb detecting robot to X-ray the vehicle and blow out the windows. The gas cans were safely removed without harming anyone. It was later revealed that the owner of the car kept the gas cans for his lawnmower, so no foul play is suspected.
In Other News…
Facebook used to be the most popular social networking site, but in efforts to improve the sites functionality, Facebook Inc. found itself upsetting more of its users with every upgrade. It appears that in recent weeks, more and more people are deleting their Facebook accounts in efforts to rid themselves of the hassle. Facebook’s latest batch of upgrades seem to have only annoyed users with lots of technical bugs and even a reinterpretation of its privacy policy. This has apparently scared some Facebook users into giving up the social network. There has been debate as to whether or not this means the end of Facebook, but for now the rate of deletions is growing until Facebook does something about it.

Film Review
Hi, my name is Darin Schenck and today I will be giving you my review of Bad Boys 2 starring Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, and Gabrielle Union. And also, you may not know this, but it was actually directed by Michael Bay who is best known for directing the Transformers movies. No offense to Transformers fans, but I'd definitely say that Bad Boys 2 is my favorite Michael Bay movie.Bad Boys 2 tells the story of two narcotics cops and one's DEA agent sister who tear up Miami trying to stop a Cuban drug kingpin. A lot of things happen as this plot unfolds, but it's not really that important. Unfortunately the plot is not this movie's strong point, but that doesn't stop the movie from being greatly entertaining. There is just one awesome action sequence after another and in between these sequences are some hilarious exchanges between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. This is what makes this movie great, when you're not at the edge of your seat during the action, you're probably rolling on the floor laughing, so by the time the movie is over, all you really care to know is that the bad guys lost and the bad boys won. Now it does run a bit long at two hours and twenty seven minutes, but I honestly didn't even notice it was that long until the movie was over because it captivating and entertaining.
So to sum up my review I'd say: great action sequences with hilarious comedy to hold you over until the next action sequence, and some of the action ends up being pretty funny too. It does run a little long and the plot was a little iffy, but I'm only barely holding it against them. I give Bad Boys 2 an A-. It is a definite must watch for action fans and anyone else for that matter, so go see it now. My name is Darin Schenck.

My name is Darin Schenck with the latest WKNJ news break. A possible terrorist plot was thwarted today as a car left unattended in Times Square was found to be an amateur car bomb. No one was hurt as the bomb did not go off, but this unexpected breach of security has authorities on high alert, and several New York city-goers are on edge. Some are concerned for their safety while others are concerned for their rights. Frequent city-goer Ryan Schenck had this to say:
“I’m concerned with my life……..
….I’m concerned with my safety and not for my rights.”
As a result of the bomb scare, authorities have heightened security all over the city, which is not so good news for city-goer Merrill Smith:
“Yeah, I’m concerned for my rights….
….that people don’t want them to do….”
The increased security will continue as the summer season brings in a greater volume of people into the city. What this means for their safety and their rights remains to be seen. With WKNJ, my name is Darin Schenck.

Hi, my name is Darin Schenck with a WKNJ news brief. Kean students all over campus are all talking about James Cameron’s new movie, Avatar, starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana. It has been number one at the box office every weekend since its December release, and it’s on its way to becoming the highest grossing film of all time. Cameron himself believes that this movie will revolutionize the entertainment industry, which is a definite possibility considering how people are starting to take notice, but only time will tell. My name is Darin Schenck, and that was a WKNJ news brief. Thank you.
